By using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or its submission and contact features.

If you use the site on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to do so. If local law requires permission from a parent or guardian because of your age, use the site only with that permission.

About Eidos Journal

Eidos Journal is a student-run publishing and salon initiative associated with students at UC San Diego. It is not an official unit of the University of California, San Diego, and the university does not necessarily review or endorse content on this site.

Plans, deadlines, events, roles, and publication schedules may change. A statement that something is planned or in development is not a promise that it will occur on a particular date.

Submissions and Contributor Responsibilities

You may submit only work that you created or are authorized to submit. You are responsible for accuracy, proper attribution, permissions, licenses, participant consent, and compliance with the published submission guidelines. Do not submit unlawful, defamatory, harassing, plagiarized, privacy-invasive, or infringing material.

Tell Eidos if the same work is accepted elsewhere. Submission does not guarantee review, acceptance, publication, payment, or a response by a particular date. Eidos may decline, pause, or remove work when editorial, legal, ethical, or operational concerns arise.

You keep copyright in your submission unless a separate written publication agreement says otherwise. By submitting, you give Eidos a limited, nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to receive, store, reproduce, and share the work privately with editors, reviewers, and advisors for evaluation and editorial preparation. Any public publication rights will be addressed separately before publication.

Editorial Process

Accepted contributors are expected to work with the editorial team on revisions. Editing may address structure, clarity, sourcing, accessibility, accuracy, and presentation. Eidos will not knowingly publish a materially revised version under an author’s name without the author’s approval.

Peer review and faculty advice support editorial decisions but do not guarantee that a work is error-free. Authors remain responsible for their claims and for promptly reporting material errors or rights concerns.

Site Content and Intellectual Property

Unless a credit says otherwise, the Eidos name, logo, site design, and original site text may not be copied, republished, or used to imply endorsement without permission, except as allowed by law.

Artwork, photographs, quotations, and other third-party materials remain subject to the rights and license shown in their credits. A link or public-domain label should be checked at the original source before reuse.

Acceptable Use

Do not interfere with the site, attempt unauthorized access, bypass security, distribute malware, impersonate another person, send deceptive material, scrape the site in a way that disrupts service, or use the site for unlawful activity.

Eidos may restrict access, disregard messages, or take other reasonable steps when use threatens the site, the team, contributors, reviewers, or other users.

Third-Party Links and Services

Links to email providers, museums, archives, social platforms, and other services are provided for convenience or attribution. Eidos does not control those services and is not responsible for their availability, content, security, or policies.

Disclaimers and Limits

The site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Eidos disclaims warranties that the site will always be available, error-free, secure, or suitable for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Eidos and its student team will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the site, reliance on its information, loss of a submission, or use of a third-party service. Nothing in these terms limits rights or liability that cannot legally be limited.

Changes, Governing Law, and Contact

We may update these terms as the project develops. Continued use after revised terms are posted means you accept the revised terms. Material changes will be identified by a new effective date.
